Cozumel is calling out to you in 2021

Underseas Scuba Center has been traveling to Cozumel, Mexico multiple times a year for literally decades, and 2020 was no different. Without a doubt, Cozumel is our most popular group trip of the year, not only for the incredible diving but also because our host in Cozumel, the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental, goes above and beyond to ensure that our vacations are safe, relaxing, and fun even during a pandemic.

In 2021, Underseas Scuba Center will be returning to Cozumel for five must experience group trips. Escape the seemingly never ending winter when we start off the year with our popular February trip running from 2/18 until 2/22. Next up, enjoy an early summer vacation with our May trip 5/20-5/24. If you can’t get away until later in summer break, we also have a July group trip from 7/8 to 7/12. Finish off summer right with our late September trip 9/30 to 10/4. If you love the holidays, celebrate Christmas early with our December trip 12/9 to 12/13. There is no bad time of year to visit Cozumel!

Of course, we would be remiss to not mention all of the safety precautions that Cozumel and the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental are taking to ensure that our vacations are not only safe but enjoyable. It is no surprise that the World Travel and Tourism Council has declared Cozumel a Safe Travels destination. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Cozumel has taken all safety precautions extremely seriously and kept the total number of local cases of COVID-19 very low.

At the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental, Cozumel’s only AAA Four Diamond Award winner, all staff are required to wear face coverings at all times. All hotel guests can also expect staff to continue their vigorous and constant cleaning of all surfaces and continued encouragement of social distancing guidelines.

Underseas Scuba Center just traveled to Cozumel from December 10 to 14 and experienced all of the new COVID safety guidelines firsthand and can ensure that not only was the vacation safe and healthy, but just as relaxing and adventurous as any previous Cozumel trip. Hotel staff had plentiful amounts of hand sanitizer to offer to guests at all times. Items such as beach towels and utensils at the restaurants were still being offered, but now coming in sealed plastic wrap to ensure cleanliness.

Speaking of the restaurants, all four of Hotel Presidente’s restaurants are open and thanks to the amazing weather in Cozumel can offer outdoor dining year round. El Caribeño serving meals all day, including their delicious and plentiful buffet breakfast buffet that will keep your appetite satisfied during a long day on the dive boat. Le Cap Beach Club is a great option for lunch or dinner after diving with their Mediterranean fare. For dinner, your options also include Faro Blanco’s coastal specialties and the world famous Alfredo di Roma Trattoria with their fettuccine alfredo and seemingly endless choices in wine.

Public spaces at the resort have capacity limitations as well as facial covering requirements. As always, the room accommodations are world class and will keep you comfortable during your stay.

While the dining is incredible and lounging by the pool is great, we all know the real reason why we go to Cozumel five times a year: the diving! The Hotel Presidente Intercontinental has its own in house dive center, Scuba Du, which has been providing world class service for all Hotel Presidente guests since 1992. In fact, Trip Advisor ranks Scuba Du as one of the Caribbean’s best dive shops. Included in the price if your Underseas Scuba Center group trip is three days of boat diving with Scuba Du providing the tanks, weights, some of the world’s best dive masters, and spacious dive boats.

Cozumel is one of the world’s premier locations for drift diving. Drift diving is a fun and exciting way experience more of the reefs and sea life while letting the current do all of the work. Appealing to more advanced divers are the caverns of Punta Sur. Explore an amazing and intricate system of tunnels and deep caverns filled with diverse sea life.

Cozumel is also perfect for beginner divers and those that want a more relaxing experience too with its protected reefs featuring over 500 species of fish and many species of coral. Some of the marine life you can find while diving in Cozumel includes eagle rays, green turtles, lobster, groupers and hundreds of other small fish.

The nearby Yucatan Peninsula also has incredible diving options and day trips. You can dive some of the 6000 cenotes and other caverns nearby the mainland. Between November and March, you can visit Playa del Carmen for a chance to see bull sharks. If you take the day trip to Isla Mujeres, you might even be lucky enough to see a whaleshark, the ocean’s largest fish. Underseas Scuba Center and Scuba Du can help arrange all of these extra adventures.

You don’t even have to get on a boat to go diving. Scuba Du and your stay at the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental provides you with unlimited shore diving, just steps from your room. For a chance to see more unique nocturnal creatures, night diving is also available.

Back above the surface, the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental also privides a seemingly endless amount of activities to keep the fun going on your vacation. For the active types, there is kayak and paddleboard rentals, as well as fishing charters offered by Scuba Du. On land, the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental offers access to its full fitness center, including yoga and even the ever challenging pool yoga. For those that like their vacation with a little more relaxation, the spa offers massage, sauna, beauty treatments, manicure and pedicure, haircuts and styling, and even authentic Mayan rituals.

The best part of our Cozumel trips is that you can enjoy all of the amazing diving, food, and accommodations over a long weekend. Each of our Cozumel weekends are from Friday to Tuesday, meaning that you may be able to get away with taking as few as three days off from work or school. Of course, if a long weekend is not enough for you Underseas Scuba Center does have the ability to extend your stay.

For the February 5 day, 4 night trip the total cost is only $1,155 per diver. The May, July, September, and December trips all cost a little less at $1,085 per diver. That price includes double occupancy lodging, the daily breakfast buffet, use of scuba tanks and weights, three days of two tank boat dives, unlimited shore diving, and the Mexican tax. All that needs to be deposited at sign up is $250 to reserve your spot. Packages are also available for the non-divers in your family that want to join in on the fun.

All you need to provide for your Cozumel vacation is your own air transport (which Underseas Scuba Center can help you with), airport transfers, the daily underwater park fee, and $18 per night for the hotel service fee.

With this great price and incredible opportunities for fun and adventure make sure that you reserve your spot today! For more information, or to sign up for the dive trip of a lifetime, please call Underseas Scuba Center at (630) 833-8383.
