Compared with a single family trip to the same destination, booking with a group will more times than not, save you money. Because the trip is booked as a group, the organizing dive store or travel company will get a discounted rate that usually gets passed on to you, the diver. For the most part, this pricing will be less than any deals you can get in the same location on your own.
Reason 2: Greater convenience
Once you book the trip, besides packing up all of your gear, all you need to do is show up at the airport. Just about everything else on group trips is handled by the group leader, including baggage handlers, ticket counter personnel, hotel check-in, and dive operation staff. You're just along for the ride. This in and of itself is worth traveling with a group.
